Sesame Street Live

Last Saturday night, we took Meg to go see Sesame Street Live, which she loved. I got great seats- fourth row, middle section and thanks to good luck, there were 3 empty seats on one side of us so we could spread out a little (which we found out later was wonderful!) We got to the State Theater a little early and Meg spent time ogling the toys that were for sale (and she bribed Daddy into getting her a Sesame Street soccer ball, which she now calls Elmo Ball) and climbing the stairs with all the other little kids who were waiting impatienly waiting for Elmo. When they finally opened the doors, we went into the theater to see the stage beautifully decorated. Meg loved running the aisles, although she didn't quite understand that by running down the sloping aisles, she was picking up speed. Once, while walking the aisles with Daddy, she almost wiped out!
Once the show started, she was transfixed. Even I was transfixed! As soon as Elmo came out, she got a huge smile on her face, sighed a big sigh and said "Elmo". She moved between Michael and I during the first half but was very good. At intermission, we went to the ladies room which didn't have a changing table AT ALL. When you walk down the very narrow stairwell into the restroom, it opens up into an anteroom with gorgeous armchairs and a chaise lounge- obviously meant for ladies who are having a charming evening at the theater to rest, gossip and relax. Well, instead of lovely high society ladies resting on the chairs, there were moms with naked toddler butts on those lovely armchairs and chaise lounges. So, I got on the floor and changed Meg standing up. Honestly, what kind of place doesn't have a changing table- at least one! Anyway- rant over.
Meg had a much harder time sitting still after intermission and she and Daddy spent the last 15 minutes of the show walking the aisles. Overall, we had a great time. And Sesame Street Live put on a great performance. I'll post the pictures later.

Houston, we have a sentence!

Meg spoke her first sentence this morning. Michael just called and told me that after her marathon 12 hours of sleep, he was changing her diaper and her blanket fell off the changing table. And she said
"My blanket fell down"
As I'm listening to him tell me this, my face almost fell off! She always has a lot to say and has been stringing together 2-3 words at a time, but we actually have a full sentence!
Holy moley!

Yup, I'm that mom...

M&M Mini's, you have saved my shopping life. Meg is currently at that age where staying in the cart is torture, akin to poking out your left eye with a red hot poker. She is also at that age where she grabs every. single. enticing thing that she sees. Prior to the M&M discovery, we would end up with either a cart full of stuff she wanted us to buy or we'd end up hiding the things she'd collected amongst the Tide in the laundry aisle. (I feel so guilty doing the later...some poor stockboy must be shocked to find a giant bouncy ball cozying up to the dryer sheets!)
Thanks to the M&M mini's though, we can get through the store and many car rides with the promise of M&M's. All I have to do is pull out the little tube and her eyes light up like I've just offered her a million dollars. Then, in her cutest little Meg voice, "MnM, pees" and I hand her one. She picks it out of my palm and actually savors it. When is the last time I really savored a single M&M? We can usually get through the store in about 12 M&M's.
So yes, I'm that mom who bribes her kid with M&M's. And honestly, those 12 little M&M minis have saved my sanity, so I really don't feel too guilty....

Elmo!!!!

We're going to Sesame Street Live in 2 weeks! I'm so excited! I heard about it on the radio and decided it might be fun to go. So I forked out $70.00 for two tickets and we'll be on our way to where the air is sweet.
My honest fear though is that Meg will go and freak out when she sees her favorite characters ranging in size from 5-7 feet tall! We can't wait to go though... it should be so fun. I hope she loves it.
